A 140,000 SF office building complex sited between downtown Burbank and the 5 FRWY. Wherein the building addresses two different scales, the automotive scale of the freeway and the pedestrian scale of First Street. The owner of the project is also a General Contractor who had constructed many industrial buildings of concrete block and therefore had a comfort level with the use of clay block material and requested that we consider its use. Accordingly, the coloration of clay block was used to separate the layers of the building further articulate scale.
